How to Wash Your Pet’s Bedding – A Simple Guide
Your furry companion brings plenty of love and cuddles into your home—but also a fair share of dirt and strong odours, especially in their bedding. Just like you, your dog enjoys sleeping on clean sheets! However, pet bedding is often bulky and hard to clean. Thankfully, with the right approach and the help of our laundromat facilities, you’ll have your pet’s bed fresh and clean in no time.
1. Remove Excess Pet Hair First
Before tossing the bedding into the washer, make sure to get rid of as much pet hair as possible. Otherwise, you risk clogging your machine and ending up with fur-covered laundry. Use a lint roller or give the bedding a vigorous brush-down. If there’s a lot of hair, a vacuum cleaner or a good shake outside can help too.
2. Take Out Any Removable Padding
Pet beds are often filled with thick, plush padding to keep your furry friend comfortable. While cozy, this padding holds water and makes washing more difficult. If the insert is removable, take it out before washing to make the process easier and more effective.
3. Pre-Treat Stains
Outdoor adventures often lead to muddy paws—and stained bedding. Apply a regular stain remover to any visible spots before washing. No need to worry—any chemical residue will rinse away during the wash cycle, keeping your pet safe.
4. Wash at the Laundromat
Now that the bedding is prepped, bring it to your local Liquid Laundromats. Our large-capacity machines are ideal for bulky pet bedding that won’t fit in a home washer.
Wash on a warm cycle to help eliminate odours, but always check the care label first to avoid damaging the fabric.
Choose a pet-safe detergent—ideally one designed to break down pet hair and free of harmful chemicals—to keep your pet comfortable and healthy.
5. Dry According to Instructions
Most pet bedding can go in the dryer on a gentle setting. But again, check the care label. Some beds may need to be air-dried instead. If so, hang them outside in a sunny, well-ventilated area to let nature do the work.
